When I was 16, after 10 years of compulsory public education, I watched a couple of friends leave to further their tertiary educations overseas, while I could only get a local polytechnic diploma. 2-3 years after that, I watch more friends walk proudly into various local universities, while my educational journey came to an end. I came from a poor family and my father could only send me for basic education and nothing more as I had 3 younger siblings who were still schooling. After 3 years in the military, I began working and became the family bread winner. I never stopped working for almost 25 years and slowly climbed up the career ladder. A few years ago, I hear this song and it struck a cord in me. I decided it was time. I enrolled in graduate school at 45. Next to the lecturer, I was the oldest person in class. Everywhere I went on campus, I stood out like a sore thumb. Everyone was on laptops and tablets, while I was on books, papers and pencils. But I didn't give up, I kept turning to this song to keep me going. THIS was MY fight song. I struggled hard but help soon came. Classmates half my age who once spurred the 'old dude' from groups in class, turned to me for life advice and in turn, helped me navigate the digital world and gadgets and online submissions. I still turned to this song to keep the fire going when I wanted to give up.
I graduated last year, ahead of schedule, 4 years out of a 5 year part time degree programme. My parents couldn't make it as they were too frail. There was no one in the audience clapping for a 49 year old graduate. But I was proud. I had made it. And this song was one of those songs that just kept me telling myself ... I can do this!

This makes me cry every time I hear it my best friend Gavin was diagnosed with Cancer. He was so kind and loving. He had his whole life ahead of him But this took it all away from him. He played so many sports and he was so loved by me and everyone around him. He had a tumor in his brain they found cancer in the tumor he lived with cancer for 1 and a half years it got really bad but than he got better, he was so close to coming out of the hospital but from there it all went down hill. After his year and a half fight through cancer he passed away. He was my best friend and forever will be. God Bless all and thank you for reading my story. Have a wonderful day

Rachel I know you won’t be able to see this but I just wanted to say thanks, because this song had such an impact on me. I battled cancer for 2 years and every time this song was put on, it would make me feel so powerful when I felt so sad and unmotivated. (I AM PROUD TO SAY I AM A CANCER SURVIVOR) ❤️

This song literally saved my friend's life I told my friend who was suffering from depression about 3 years ago with some other motivational songs and she texted me 3 days later that she doesn't wanna give her self up and thank me for everything I did for her and as for now she is still my friend and I would never forget the smile on my face when I saved my friend's life...well this song actually saved her so this song would always have a special place in both of my friend's heart

i’m sure no one will see this but yes this song has saved me. it may sounds small but i have started having to self inject medication everyday. for the first few days i would sit there for an hour building up the courage to do it. then i remembered this song and ever since then, i can do it straight away. i just put this song on and at “this is my fight song” i do it. thank you rachel

After the breakup, I didn't eat, stopped doing things I love, won't talk to people, wasn't able to concentrate at work, I was just so broken and questioned my worth. I kept on listening to this song! Definitely my fight song! After 5 months, i can totally say I'm perfectly doing great! People saw me thriving! I'm a better version of myself! People complimented me on how I got up and never stopped fighting. 'Twas my first love.. and now I found someone when I wasn't looking. He sees me as a high valued woman and he truly see my worth.

She is a plays both the piano and the organ and she said that what I played was the best thing she's ever heard. She's really weak sometimes and I love her some much. I'm a victim of attempted rape, being molested 3 times when I was younger, my ex husband tried to kill me for something I never did, he accused me of having a affair with my best friend cause he's brother's famous. Literally stayed with my ex husband after he became paralyzed for 2 n half years and was he's care taker 24 hrs. I was with this monster for 25 yrs he abused me throughout our whole marriage physically, mentally, and emotionally! Now he's mentally and emotionally abusing our daughter and she tried to kill her self 2 times within the last 9 months by cutting her wrist. She's in therapy now. She lives with her dad and she don't want to. She wants to live with me but she can't right now cause I am homeless due to the fact my ex husband kicked me out of my apt and now I am homeless. They plan to steal my retirement. All alone my children have to find their own way... Tired... Don't want to hear another verse... I just want to go home... I love you for trying. I'll HAVE to download this from iTunes the next time I get a card. After being left in a debilitating condition, it's hard to keep hope alive some days. With songs like this to pick me up, though; it gets me through life one day at a time. I might sound weak, but I'm lucky to be alive; after sepsis put me on life-support at Christmas 2013. They told my family that I wasn't going to make it ... but I DID (minus my large-bowel). It wasn't an easy recovery, though (in fact, I'm suffering complications that can't be fixed). Despite this, I make plans to spend time with my family, even though it puts me through so much pain. But I bear it & carry on, one day at a time. That's how I "fight". If I was able to get through multiple organ-failure, emergency surgery, a 5-week coma, then face death & recover from it; the sky is the limit. I'm telling this now, in the hope that it can inspire others to get through difficult obstacles in life; to show that it IS possible to overcome them. ☺️

6 years ago, this was my favorite song. Not because I related to the lyrics, but because it was a good song. Now I come back to this song again, not just because it's a good song, but because I relate more. I've been lonely and I've stopped enjoying all the activities I used to love. Recently, I found out I'm transgender and my family supports me, but they don't really understand. Most of my extended family is conservative and probably won't accept me. I've been going through stages of dysphoria too. I used to read books at night, and now all I do is sit on my computer and watch youtube etc. A year ago, I came out as abrosexual (search the meaning for the full explanation), which people supported me. Some people still think I'm just bisexual and confused. My parents wonder why I stay up late at night, but it's just because it's the only time the house is silent and I can sit at my desk in peace. This song gave me confidence and reminded me to keep fighting, as should anyone reading this. You are all valid and loved. If not by your family, then by me.
